1 lb ground beef
½ cup Italian bread crumbs
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
2 cups marinara sauce
4 sub rolls
1½ cups finely shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon chopped fresh Italian parsley or fresh basil (optional)
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, oregano, basil, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 1-inch meatballs.
Brown meatballs in a skillet over medium heat until golden. Drain excess grease and add marinara sauce; simmer for 15 minutes.
Split sub rolls open, butter lightly and toast under the broiler until golden.
Layer mozzarella on bottom of each roll; add meatballs and top with remaining cheese. Broil until melted and bubbly.
Serve warm with optional parsley or extra Parmesan.
