  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in sour cream, lemon juice, and zest.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. For the cream cheese swirl, mix softened cream cheese with sugar, egg yolk, and lemon juice until smooth.
  6. Pour half of the bread batter into the prepared pan. Dollop half of the cream cheese mixture over it and swirl gently with a knife. Repeat with remaining batter and cream cheese.
  7. Bake for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
